TROOP CAMPER PART 1 - IN-PERSON OPTION
Who should take Troop Camper Certification?
One adult per troop participating in:
- Outdoor Campfires or activities using indoor fireplaces
- Camping when meals are not provided. (Meals cooked over an open flame)
- Camping when meals are cooked using propane, butane, charcoal, solar cooking, wood fires, or hibachi.
- Camping at campgrounds on your own, not part of a community encampment.
Prerequisite: Overnight Orientation - materials & test found on our website: http://www.gsnnj.org/en/for-volunteers/volunteer-training.html
Completed Overnight Orientation test must be submitted 2 weeks before the scheduled date of the part 1 training.
This training consists of 2 parts:
- Troop Camper part 1 - in person with a trainer at a service center OR online & submit test
- Troop Camper part 2 - sign up for one of the Troop Camper part 2 dates at camp

All participants must sign up for Troop Camper Part 2. It is recommended that participants sign up for Troop Camper Part 2 asap as spots are limited. There is a nominal fee for Troop Camper Part 2 to cover the cost of food & materials.
Participants would benefit from bringing a copy of Outdoor Education in Girl Scouting or purchasing the book in the council shop.
